2011 NBA All-Star Game to Bring at Least $85 Million to Los
Angeles Economy
Of that, $60 million of the total revenue generated is expected to
come from visitors attracted to Los Angeles to attend NBA All-Star
Weekend events. The influx of out-of-towners means more money will be
spent on area hotels and lodging, transportation, food, beverages,
entertainment and shopping. Increased economic activity from local
residents and businesses is expected to generate an additional $25

First Look at 2011 NBA All-Star Gear
The 2011 All-Star jerseys will follow the traditional Blue/East and
Red/West palette. The jersey's read "The East" or the "The West" with a
silhouette of the LA skyline in the lettering. The jersey also features
the adidas Three Stripes on the sides of the jersey. Being that we are
very far from the 2011 All-Star game, anything can change, but for now,
these are the 2011 All-Star jerseys.

NBA All-Star Weekend not going to Europe in the near future
There had been talk of holding the game in Europe, perhaps in London ahead of
the 2012 Olympics. Stern said that was “just talk,” and nothing more. “Some of
the players come up to me and say, ‘Let’s go to London.’ They don’t know how
difficult it is to mount something,” Stern said. “I think this game is staying
domestic for quite a few more years.”

Chris Kaman Taking Charge, Making Case for All-Star Selection
It's a long shot, mainly due to the Clippers' less-than-stellar 14-18
record. But if Western Conference coaches seek to name a center for the All-Star

An All-Star 3-point possibility for Dallas Mavericks' Kidd?
Kidd says he'd consider it a

Decade’s Best: All-Star Game
There was a time not too long ago when the gap
between the conferences was far greater, where the Western’s dominance
wasn’t even questioned due to a lack of elite teams as well as a
shortage of great players in the East. The 2001 NBA All-Star
Game was clearly evident of this fact, featuring a Western Conference
roster that dwarfed its counterparts in skill and size.

All Star Voting Takes A Step Back (Tracy McGrady)
There he is with almost 300,000 votes, which currently has him
starting the game besides the leading vote-getter, Kobe Bryant.
McGrady’s vote total could be the result of a bleed over effect caused
by Yao Ming’s popularity. If so, the NBA has no one to blame but
themselves because McGrady is actually listed as an eligible guard to be
selected, even though he hasn’t played a game in almost a year.

LeBron James May Not Enter Dunk Contest
After saying at last year’s event in Phoenix that he planned to dunk
in the 2010 festivities in Dallas, James now says he’s “50-50” about
taking part. So why has he changed his mind? “I was excited,” he said.
“When I said it I was very excited about doing it. I was there at the
event and you get caught up in it a little bit.”

Dwight Howard doesn't sound interested in competing in the All-Star
Slam-Dunk contest
When asked whether he would compete in the event, the 23-year-old superstar
didn't sound enthused. "I’m getting old, man, they’ve got to stop grabbing me in
the games so I can jump. I’ve got to keep my legs. It’s kind of tough. I don’t
know. I’ve thought about it. But I think it’s time for us to see more guys get
out there and show their stuff. I would love to see a lot of people in it." But,
then, he took a look at a nearby video camera and kept his options open. If they
want me in it, they ought to vote me in," he said. "Vote me. Vote for me."

Campaign starts to get Williams on the West team
Why VoteDeron.com? Let’s get straight to the point. Deron Williams
should have been an All-star by now. The fact that he hasn’t yet is
crazy. Injuries, bigger names in the WC, and lack of exposure have all
contributed to not having been an official All-star despite putting up
All-star stats.

NBA Commissioner David Stern wants New Orleans in their All-Star

“I know I am on record as saying that Orlando would be a good entry
and New Orleans is another one,’’ Stern said Friday. “I do know that New
Orleans’ lease is up in 2014 and so I think we will wait on the lease
situation being clarified. But it certainly sounds like a good
opportunity with a stable lease and the growth and strength that the

The top 10 finest All-Star moments of the last decade
It's a huge heap of nonsense. You have to sit through tired musical
acts, lots of silly intros, tons of gushing commentary, and you might

bounce off the back iron. That said, the best-case scenario behind the
NBA's All-Star weekend can be quite memorable. At its best, it is the
best. No other sport can touch it.

Do you think the NBA All-Star ballot needs to be changed?
With the way the game is going, as the concept of the true center
continues to dwindle and with more power forward/center hybrid players
than ever, the ballot should be divided as follows: Point Guards (one
starter), Wings (two starters), Big Men (two starters).

Garden seeks 2012 NBA All-Star
With a $500 million renovation planned for Madison Square Garden, the
Knicks are preparing an application to host the All-Star Game at the
earliest possible date. The renovated Garden is scheduled to be ready for
basketball by the 2011-12 season. The league has a history of awarding the
All-Star Game to new arenas, as it did in 2002 (Staples Center in Los
Angeles), 2005 (Pepsi Center in Denver) and 2006 (Toyota Center in Houston).

If Orlando hosts 2012 NBA All-Star Game, fans will party in tents
The goal is to showcase the city's $480 million arena, which breaks
ground Friday, with a planned opening in late 2010. Magic executive Alex
Martins says he's lobbying NBA Commissioner David Stern to put Orlando into
a regular rotation of cities that would host the All-Star Game. Florida's
warm winters and massive stock of hotel beds make it ideal, he said. As for
2012, Martins said league officials were open to an "indoor/outdoor" concept
for the Jam Session. The event requires 500,000 square feet of space.

The Worst NBA
All Stars of the Past Two Decades
Looking back through 1986, when His Airness decided that basketball
needed some revision, five NBA All Stars stand out as particularly egregious
selections. Granted, I'm looking at full-season numbers, and the people
choosing teams were looking at the half-seasons, but some of these are just
too ridiculous to let slide...

during the 2011-12 season, a year after the club opens its new arena. Magic

NBA should bring All-Star Weekend back to New Orleans in 2010
Orlando also has been penciled in for a game in the near future after its
new arena is completed in 2010. As long as we're considering future sites,
here's a thought: Bring the game back here in 2010. Why? Because New Orleans
needs it more than any other NBA city.

Shaq's streak of 14 NBA All-Star selections ends
The Miami Heat center was not on the list of Eastern Conference reserves
released Thursday for the Feb. 17 game in New Orleans. O'Neal will still be
going to the all-star festivities, but only to host a couple of parties and
appear at other events that weekend. O'Neal, Jerry West and Karl Malone are
the only players selected to 14 straight NBA All-Star Games.

All-Star 2008:
10 Who Could Be First Timers
But just as the All-Star game is about collecting the players in the
prime of their careers for a mutual celebration, it's also about recognizing
the players who will have the proverbial torch passed down to them and
sometimes it's just a chance to give props to a guy who is putting it all
together and having a career year. Al Harrington, Andre Iguodala, Richard
Jefferson, Al Jefferson, Chris Kaman, Corey Magette, Kevin Martin, Chris
Paul, Zack Randolph and Deron Williams.

NBA Allows Their
Stars to Shine
The NBA All-Star Game showcases the most supremely talented players
in the sport in a format that more closely resembles a "real" game than the
All-Star Games in other sports do. All-Star statistics do not have the same
cachet as regular season and playoff numbers but it is interesting to look
at which players have excelled in the midseason classic. Each era of NBA
history has a few players who have performed particularly well in All-Star
competition.

NBA All-Star

Stern says NBA wants to do more than
just All-Star game for New Orleans
"Although we're happy to participate with the tourism industry to make it
better and to demonstrate the vibrancy of it, we'd also like to find a way to
cross over and make more of a contribution to what seems to be picking up steam
of developments in New Orleans." - Stern said -

David Stern: NBA to Look Into Adding H-O-R-S-E to All-Star Weekend
We're open to it. I think we are continually looking for different ways to showcase our players skills. One issue there is competitiveness! We might get somebody so hot they will embarrass everybody else.
But we will look into it -said David Stern during a chat n ESPN-

Progress made in All-Star talks. New Orleans finalizing details for
game with NBA
The NBA and New Orleans have made significant progress in preparation
for the league's 2008 All-Star Game, and sources familiar with the situation

The NBA needs to spend less time putting together rap concerts at halftime and more time putting together a great game. Maybe the league needs to follow in the footsteps of Major League Baseball and give home court advantage in the NBA Finals to the winning conference. Maybe then the players would guard someone.

Raptors still high in NBA All-Star bid
The Raptors vow to consult with their season-ticket holders once more
before applying for the 2011 NBA all-star game. The reason a consultation is
needed is that sometimes season subscribers have unrealistic notions about
how many, if any, all-star-related events they'll get to attend.
